Need help finding a camping spot around the modesto/stockton ca area (free spot)?
sorry to repost this question but i'm stuck. a friend and i want to go camping, free if possible. we live in modesto but are willing to travel around the stockton area... well a radius of about 35-40 miles from modesto to outlying areas. if anyone knows of any spots please let me know. alt of these camping areas charge day and night usage. after you add everything up we might as well spring for a room at a hotel or something lol thanks in advance! gabe relax chris lol yes i do appreciate the answer you gave in my other topic. Problem is that i have very little money at the moment to be driving around trying to find a secret hiding spot. Honestly i know very little about going around the river trying to find the spots, i don't drive. My friend is the one who will be driving so i'm trying to find a general area. i do appreciate your response, so don't think i don't. :) I remember when i was a little kid and we just pulled up somewhere to camp. Now i seems like it all costs money which blows... oh well :p

the only one i know of in the area (sorry not free, though) is caswell state park in ripon. the family camp sites are only $20. other than that you can take your chances at mossdale outside manteca. we used to go out there by the train bridge near the marina. walk along the berm and there's a little beach. i've seen some people camp out there before but it's not a real camp site and probably not very legal to camp there.

I gave you a good one before, As I said I have camped along the Toulumne river east of modesto and turlock state park. There are lots of open area's and islands along the river. Keep things low key and you will avoid the hasslers. Farther east as the river gets into the national forest there are even more spots to camp at along the river, you just have to explore and find "you favorite spot". I am not going to reveal exactly "my favorite spots" on a public forum that would allow trash people to ruin them. You can do as I did and get off your derieair and look for some of your own. The suggestions I gave you will lead you to some of the most beautiful spots along the toulumne you will ever see. All for no cost to camp. good luck

Planning on driving from stockton,ca(central vlly) to seattle after xmas, shld I be concernd abt snow/weath?
It is our first time driving to the pacific northwest, and I just want to be ready, and maybe get some travel advise, and maybe the best place to stop over in Oregon as well for a day. thanks.

From Stockton to Seattle I am assuming you are just going up 5. Really the main place you might run into snow is Siskiyou Pass at the California/Oregon border. It's a good idea to buy chains ahead of time and keep them in your car. If the weather turns suddenly, the service stations along the road instantly double or triple their prices on chains. They usually keep the freeway cleared, but you might be legally required to install chains if it is actively snowing and the signs say you must. It can snow along the rest of the way through Portland and Seattle, but it's not terribly common. My advice would be to try to hit the pass in the middle of the day when there is the least chance for black ice and take it easy on the downhill corners. If you're merely looking for a pit stop or a motel in Oregon, Medford or Eugene are easy off and on. Ashland tends to be more expensive. If you are looking for an afternoon of sightseeing, Multnomah Falls is about 30 miles of east Portland on the Columbia River and the view is spectacular. I do not recommend staying overnight in the city of Portland proper, try Gresham or Vancouver, WA instead. If you are new to winter driving, visit your local AAA office and get their winter driving brochures. Experience has taught me to always carry an ice scraper, switch out regular windshield washer fluid for non-freezing variety, and do not set the emergency brake if temperatures are below freezing because it can get frozen on. Stay up to date on road conditions while on your trip! CA: www.dot.ca.gov -or- 1-800-427-7623 OR: www.tripcheck.com -or- 1-800-977-6368 WA: www.wsdot.wa.gov/TRAFFIC -or- 1-800-695-7623

About What's the best way to travel

What's the best way to travel?
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip from Stockton, Ca to Tacoma, Wa to visit his brother during Christmas. We are debating whether to fly, drive (either our car or a rental car), go by bus, or go by train. What would be: 1) the cheapest way, 2) the quickest way, and 3) the safest way? Thanks!

Are you both college students? if so you can get a travel discount @ www.studentuniverse.com
2 :
cheapest - train quickest - fly easiest - rental car toughest - own car
3 :
My personal preference would be a road trip. I think they are more fun because you get to see everything along the way. It's a lot less hassle since you don't have to deal with lines or security gates or packing nightmares or delayed flights. Just pack up the car and go. Probably a rental because they are relatively cheap and you don't put the wear and tear and extra miles on your car.
4 :
I don't know what plane rates are like, but they shouldn't be too bad. I'd say flying for all three. Yes, it's statistically safer.

About Where can I purchase two APBT puppies in Stockton

Where can I purchase two APBT puppies in Stockton?
I would like to purchase two males from the same or separate litter for an affordable price. I have a great vet, own my own home on 1 acre, work from home, my brother is an obedience trainer and I would love to get a couple pit bull pups. I want to purchase from a reputable breeder, not back yard breeders, nor do I want go to go to shelters as I plan on studding the males once or twice. I do not want Razor Edge breed because I was told they are mutts, bred with pit, bull dog and other breeds. I want PUREBRED! I prefer both have blue coat, I guess they are called Blue Nose even though there is not much difference between Red Noses. Anyway, I live in Stockton and could travel to Sacramento, Modesto, Merced, Lodi, etc. Maybe even the Bay Area, but not sure. Also, where can I get puppies ears cropped around here for a reasonable fee?

Try craigslist. Or if you go to AKC online then they have lists of breeders. Good luck!
2 :
It takes research to find a reputable breeder for 1. For 2 what do you have against shelter dogs? Do you have any idea how many PUREBRED pitbulls there are in shelters? 1 of my 3 is a shelter dog and hes just as good as any. Why would you want to stud your dogs out 'once or twice' to add to the amount of them in shelters? Why would you want to inflict pain on a dog by getting its ears chopped off? Sounds like some illegal action going on here. I know after reading this I dont care how much I was selling my pups for...I sure wouldn't sell to you...and alot of people are going to get the wrong impression with your 'it's got to be like this and right now' attitude...maybe you should refrase the question if you are a true responsible person looking to own the breed instead of coming off as a egotistic weirdo.
3 :
well if your wanting a purebred American Pit Bull Terrier then your going to pay over $1200 each.also to find a purebred Pit Bull that is blue is going to be very hard seeing how they are rare. most of these blues nowadays are American Bullies and yes your right they are mutts. theres alot more to studding your dogs then just buying the pups. as someone else said on here there are plenty of Pit Bulls already in shelters and breeding should be left to the pros and people that have been doing it for years.just becuase you get a dog with papers doesnt mean its breeding material you have to know everything there is to know about the breed, the standards, temperament, health and alot of other things. as for the ear cropping call around to local vets ask prices also ask other Pit Bull owners were they had their dogs ears cropped get refrences.i live in Kansas and it cost $200. either way it doesnt sound like you are ready for breeding the coat color shouldnt matter no good reputable breeder ever breeds for color, head size, stockiness...they breed to better the breed itself and its image.

How does CHP measure your speed on I-5 north of Stockton?
I was traveling down I-5, had actually just got on the freeway, and was going 75 in the left hand lane when I was pulled over for reportedly doing 95. The officer said the plane clocked me at 95, does anyone know how the plane works? It was extremely windy that day and I cant find any visible lines on google earth/maps. I was pulled over 2.5 miles after getting on the freeway. Any help on beating the ticket?

plead not guilty and go to court/ask the testifying po how about the plane/ maybe he wont show/cant remember/how he calibrates radar etc any unusual traffic patterns that day why not the guy in front of you and on and on
2 :
There are white lines exactly one mile apart painted on the shoulder of the road. The aircraft will follow you on your right rear side and clock how long it takes you to travel the measured mile. Then mathematically they convert the time to miles per hour. A patrol car on the ground will be called to stop and cite you. This method is very accurate, and the courts accept this method of speed control. The ONLY way to beat it is if the officer does not appear in court, which with the CHP is EXTREMELY rare. If you haven't been to "Traffic School" in the past 18 months this would be the safest/best way to resolve this matter.

About Can my son travel to a differant state by himself

Can my son travel to a differant state by himself?
My son is going to Stockton, California to visit his grandparents for the remainder of the Summer. I cannot go with him though. So I was wondering if he can go to the train station and but tickets himself and get on the train. And also about the border, will he be able to go by himself?

1 :
tis' not safe, do not do it
2 :
5 year olds should not be by themselves
3 :
you son has to be 18 to ride with out a parent, and to go out of state, you need a chaperone and you will have to pay one to do the job.
4 :
border? If he is a citizen of the United States he doesn't need to worry about the border. Anyway, it all depends on his age. How old is he? If he is a minor, then most likely you will need to buy the ticket for him. Find out this information by asking the train company. They should have a website. If he is a minor which I assume, there maybe special arrangements you can make with the company that will watch out for you child. People send their kids on planes by themselves more than you think. I'm sure the same goes for trains.
5 :
It would be better to buy him a plane ticket. They aren't that expensive, and it would be safer.
6 :
How old is your son? Depending on his maturity level but under 14-15, I would say no... And also, how far is this travel?? You should at least see him on the train safely and arrange for someone to be waiting at his destination.
7 :
You don't say how old he is. You also don't say how long he will be on the train. The rules may be different if it is a 30 minute train ride than if it is a three day trip. You can call Amtrak (or other railroad) to find out what kinds of restrictions they have. You should be able to purchase tickets over the Internet.
8 :
Depends on his age if he is mature enoph he should be just fine
9 :
this is what you do-- if it a good enough train company you can request assistance with him at the train station all the way to the destination (like a plane ride) just when you order the tickets, call or talk to a rep. and tell them the situation, and make sure they can help. usually they will have someone escort him to the proper train and brief him on the trip, then if there is any changeovers a steward/ess will help him get to the next train... good luck!
10 :
You left out an important fact...how old is he? You can purchase tickets ahead of time for him and give those to him and you can alert the train that he is a minor. What "border" are you talking about? Americans can freely travel anywhere in this country. I must caution you; if he is a child, you are taking a chance letting him go by himself in this day and age of perverts everywhere. Can't his grandparents come to pick him up or you drive him? If he were my son, and a child, I would not let him go alone.
11 :
If you don't know this stuff how in the world do you expect a mere small child to ? Do not send a small child anywhere alone unless you want him kidnapped, raped, abused, sold into the sex slavery, or maybe just killed all alone on the plane because of terroists!!! You are an unfit mother to even think about doing that! Get some parenting classes!God please help this woman, Amen

What is the cheapest transportation method from Irvine to Stockton?
I was wondering what the cheapest way to get to Stockton is without having to drive the 350 mile route. Is there a way to transfer trains to Northern CA from Southern CA, or perhaps a line of buses that i could transfer off of? I'm not fond of driving since it's like a 6 hour trip, but i could take 6 hours in a bus or train instead. I'm not very familiar with public transportation in California since I've never had to travel farther than around 30 miles from where I live.

2 :
Two main choices. 1. Greyhound bus. If you choose Greyhound make sure you book travel on a schedule that lists "GLI" as the carrier. Anything else is a contracted Mexican based bus line. 2. Metrolink to Union Station. Amtrak bus to Bakersfield, then Amtrak "San Joaquin" to Stockton.

You can take a Greyhound / Crucero bus all the way to Tijuana form Stockton. Depending on the day you choose to travel, there are 6 or 7 schedules leaving daily from the Stockton Greyhound station with each averaging 10 to 14 hours in duration. All of the schedules, with the exception to one (7:45 PM), have a transfer in Los Angeles. The one the doesn't is direct with no transfers. The cost for the trip is about $67 one way and $129 round trip if you know your return date in advance. If you don't know the return date, you can pay extra to leave the ticket open for the return. Oh, Greyhound operates a variety of brand names throughout the US in depending on their market. CRUCERO is one of them, so don't let the scare you. Actually, CRUCERO is the brand name used in the Southwest with all the schedules that cross into Mexico. Good luck and

You can make the same round trip to Los Angeles (maybe for two persons) on coach bus lines like Transportes Intercalifornias or even Greyhound lines for about or less than $100. Check the websites below and local telephone numbers.
