You can take a Greyhound / Crucero bus all the way to Tijuana form Stockton. Depending on the day you choose to travel, there are 6 or 7 schedules leaving daily from the Stockton Greyhound station with each averaging 10 to 14 hours in duration. All of the schedules, with the exception to one (7:45 PM), have a transfer in Los Angeles. The one the doesn't is direct with no transfers. The cost for the trip is about $67 one way and $129 round trip if you know your return date in advance. If you don't know the return date, you can pay extra to leave the ticket open for the return. Oh, Greyhound operates a variety of brand names throughout the US in depending on their market. CRUCERO is one of them, so don't let the scare you.
